Calling for survey participants for my thesis on blogs!

Hi Everyone!

Well seeing as though this is my first blog, you'll have to excuse me if I break standard blogging protocol in any way!

Allow me to introduce myself (as I haven't worked out how to build a profile for myself yet- yes, i know, i am an ammature!). Apart from the fact that I am a Melbourne girl currently studying a post-graduate course in Public Relations at RMIT, the reason I am blogging is to learn more about how this all workd and get some help for this monsterous thesis I have to write!

But before I do, I think it's important to mention that I have been inspired and encouraged to create this blog by my good ol' friend Frank Arrigo- who as many of you will know, is a leading and very well-known blogger at Microsoft.

Frank made me realise, after interviewing him for the thesis, that i actually had to emerge myself in the medium if i was going to write a thesis about it- which kinda makes sense when you think about it! But the I think the fear of not knowing what's out there is what has stopped me up till now.

The interesting thing is, somehow, i don't think i'm the only one who's an ammature. Which brings me to my thesis topic.

What impact is interactive media, such as online blogs and chat rooms, having on the communication strategies of corporate organisations within Australia?

What i need you to do, is help me answer this question and the way you can do that is by helping me to get 40 surveys filled out within the next week if possible!

The only condition is that you (or whoever you pass it on to) has to work within a corporate organisation within Australia (big or small) and must be preferably in a marketing/communciations role or work closely with the company's PR agency to be able to answer the questions.

Let me know if you can help and I'd be glad to send you a survey!

Cheers guys,

Danielle Murdolo.

Guys, need your expert advice on some things as my blogging adventures start to hit some brick walls.

I made another blog post today but for some reason it's not up there?? Any suggestions on what i could have done wrong?

Secondly, this might sound lame, but how do i adjust the time settings?

Also, how do I allow people without a Windows account to respond to my blog?

Great idea Danielle - happy to help out.

One of the things that you will learn about with blogging is 'linking' and 'trackbacks' are king. It helps build a network of discussions. Bloggers look at where people are coming from and what people are saying about them.

You can link to people's blog directly, but it becomes really interesting when you link to their actual posts. So your next post might be thanking Frank again for spreading the word on his blog. <-- see a link!

Anyways - good luck!

Im part of Frank's network and would be delighted to assist.  Since you have made the smart move of dipping a toe into the web2 world, why not dive right in and experience the chaos.  I guarantee you will learn more than what your survey results tell you.

Survey, schmurvey - so web1.0  ;-)

Ok, so i spelt 'amatuer' wrong, that's what staying up all night for a thesis can do to you! (What a great way to start!)

Thesis is due in three weeks, but results need to be in way before that!

Nick, i will be in touch with the survey- thanks for the interest.
